Moss has the engineering capabilities to retrofit your existing firetube or watertube boilers from gas/oil/propane fired to solid fuel firing. Depending on the design and heating surface of your existing boiler will depend on how much steam or hot water can be produced. However if your boiler can be successfully retrofitted, this will allow the usage of your existing accessory components and most likely will also require minimum boiler room modifications. As you can imagine, a retrofit will save you significantly on the cost of a new or even a used system. If wood is purchased for $15/ton, your BTU input cost will be reduced to approximately $2.00/MMBTU. Since natural gas and fuel oils costs are close to $10/MMBTU input, the payback to burn wood is very short. It does not take long to pay for a solid fuel boiler system with today’s fuel cost.

So if you have any of the following boilers in your plant, please give us an opportunity to provide you with retrofit pricing. The boilers are as follows:

  1. Cleaver Brooks
  2. Superior
  3. Kewanee
  4. Johnston
  5. Nebraska
  6. English
